I can't ramble in groups, but am pretty good at 1-1 dialogue. That's how I get guys lol. I am a different person at work though, thank God those discussions involve only my knowledge and opinions. That bar was really my company's hideouts. From 11pm to 2am, 80% of the customers are my colleagues. Ironically it's cheaper than cafe. only 30k for orange juice... Censy if you want to give bar/pub a shot just try O'briens on Hai Ba Trung, D1. It's an Irish pub with very nice look, quiet and relaxing atmosphere. Beer is only 30k, good pool table for free. Customers are mostly foreigners, nothing crazy and stupid as we usually see in movies at all. If you choose upstairs you'd feel like you own the whole place lol.
Holy craps! Now I want dat kind of bars in HN. I freaking hate this city's bars. Oh, and congrat on that catch FE. Don't spend him too recklessly; if you go all out, people break. p/s: btw, I think Vat dieded about now.
I live here https://www.google.com/maps/place/Chung+Cư+Conic/@10.709336,106.641766,15z/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x0:0x249a65232f457612?sa=X&ei=FjEcVfqYN5OdugTe0ICIDQ&ved=0CI0BEPwSMA4 Most of the times I tell ppl this fact, they look at me as if I'm crazy for choosing to live in such a distant place. It's far from everywhere in HCMC except for district 8 but lol dunno what to do there. There are a few reasons that have kept me from moving to Binh Thanh for the last 1.5 years, one of which is that I get to eat very nice home cooked food here for just 1.5mil/month, if I moved away, I can still cook my own meals but I don't have that luxury of time, and especially when you're living alone, it's really a burden to cook, you'll just go eat out at some cheap street shops and get food poisoning once every while (and perhaps cancer after doing this for 5-7 years for eating crap food from dirty dishes). So on Saturdays, I often come to my friend's place on Dien Bien Phu - Hang Xanh in the afternoon to play table tennis with him and then stay for the night till Sunday morning, then I go to another date/appointment with some other ppl at a coffee shop and then come back to my apartment and that concludes my weekend
I know that Conic place.... nice view, quiet, has fresh air, chicken and ducks. I would have lived there if it hadn't been too close to the moon. 'bout the O'briens, be sure you bring one or two friends to talk with, or a laptop to work with, else you will look as creepy as an Asian psycho killer thinking about his next plan... And censy if you are thinking about refreshing your weekends maybe volunteering for dog walking at pet rescue centres in the beautiful D2 once every month might be a good choice.
1.5mil/month huh? I guess that's cheap. I have a few friends who lives close to the center and theirs are around 4mil+ per month. But if your commute time is short then there's nothing to worry about. Embrace your introversion!
Wow where did you find that dream job where meeting only involve "knowledge and opinions"? My only memories of company meeting are nonsense shit talks and people who apparently had absolutely no idea what the meeting topic was.
LoL both my current home & company are about as far away from 1st District as you are (near FPT Software Saigon & my company's at Nha Be). Seriously I don't mind though, since I (and I'd guess you too) mostly just hook on to the computer all day long anyway. Pretty sure it wouldn't make much of a difference whether I live near the Church or the outskirt, I would most likely still speak Hanoi dialect for the next decade. It's so easy to blend into the habitat when you practically never interact with the habitants xD
Btw, I have a question for all you southerners, do you find the northern accent, specifically from Hanoi, indiscernible? I lived my whole life thinking our accent was the "proper" one, and that everyone could understand it perfectly. But when I come to HCMC on the last New year's eve, I found out that if I speak at my natural speed, people don't understand what I'm saying. I expected not to understand the southern accent, but not the other way around too...
The only problem I have with dialect is number 1 and 4. Other differences in wording are resolved pretty fast but somehow people never understand what I meant whenever 1 or 4 are involved. On the other hand I find it hard to say Quận Nhất too. Somehow it was imprinted into my head that Nhất is something like "Best", and it feels weird to use it in circumstances where the subjects are equivalent.
@Fire Emblem @AVAVT @censy @_Forte_ A meeting for all of us is fine <3 but you guys have some nice place to suggest? Mine is: https://www.facebook.com/AliceMaidVN
Wait they have one in HN? Never heard of them. Guess I was not weeaboo enough to notice. So what's it like?
A while ago, I suggested the idea of us meeting but people wasn't really interested Let's see how it goes this time. I'm in btw Also I don't know many places to meet up in Saigon except for coffee chains (Highlands, Phuc Long, etc..) or fast food restaurants so it's up to you guys to suggest. That Alice Maid coffee looks nice though
I'm ok with the maid cafe. Really like the idea of young girls drawing hearts for me (don't judge!) The girls in maid cafe in VN are usually too old though :( Anyway if you guys want to I'd surely come, but - just to ease the potential shock - I'm your typical keyboard hero, it's really hard for me to talk without a keyboard :(
