Adding a New Country.
The RockPatch enables you to add up to 99 new countries.
To add your country, just go to the [Countries] list and add your country to the list, giving it whatever name you want (as long as it doesn’t have spaces).
Note: If your new country is a playable one, it must be listed before the unplayable countries. I.e. make sure that GDI, Nod, Neutral and Special are at the end of the list. And be sure to keep the numbers right, people have a habit of not changing the numbers of the unplayable countries to accommodate the playable ones.
Example:
[Countries]
0=Americans
1=Alliance
2=French
3=Germans
4=British
5=Africans
6=Arabs
7=Confederation
8=Russians
9=YuriCountry
10=NewCountry
11=GDI
11=Nod
12=Neutral
13=Special
Now, add your country to the sides list. If it’s a new Allied country, add it to the GDI list. If it’s Soviet, it goes under Nod. Anything Yuri goes under ThirdSide.
[Sides]
GDI=British,French,Germans,Americans,Alliance,NewCountry
Nod=Russians,Africans,Confederation,Arabs
ThirdSide=YuriCountry
Civilian=Neutral
Mutant=Special
Make sure you add your country to the Owner list of all its respective side’s units and structures that it should be able to build. This goes especially for the MCV and Construction Yard.
Now, create a section for your country. It’s best just copy-pasting an existing one and changing it, to save time.
For example:
[NewCountry]
UIName=Name:Country10 ;This string is needed - see later
Name=New Country
Suffix=Allied
Prefix=G
Color=Gold
Multiplay=yes
Side=GDI
SmartAI=yes
If your new country is a Soviet or Yuri country, the Suffix and Prefix tags should read Soviet and B respectively.
Now, the graphics files.
The Flag PCX file c10_flag.pcx
The load screen SHP c10_ls.shp
The load screen Palette c10_ls.pal
The above examples are for country 10 in the [Countries] list. For other countries, simply change the number to correspond with their place in the list.
And now the required strings:
Country Name. Name:Country10
Country Special (on load screen). Name:Country10SW
Country Load Brief. LoadBrief:Country10
Country description in Skirmish Menu. STT:Country10
And, if you want them, taunts for your new country. Simply put the WAV files into the Taunts folder inside your YR Directory. They must be named as follows:
tauXX##.wav
XX stands for the taunt number, and ## stands for the country number. Taunts can only be added for countries up to number 16.
The last thing you may want to consider doing is enabling your countries to be chosen whenever someone chooses ‘Random’ as a side. To do this, just add the tag:
NewPlayableCountries=1 ;not the total number of countries, but the number of countries you added.
Negative values can also be used in this tag to prevent the game from selecting removed countries as random.
