Well, from my experience working with graphics and what I've seen the developers
introduce into NF in the past year....adding submarines is NOT impossible and would
NOT cause any more lag than those Premium ships everyone has lined up to
purchase. All this would take is a resourceful programmer and someone to develop
the graphics for a concept such as the one you see below. I disagree that there is
any reason other than pure laziness, that would make anyone say "IT CAN'T AND
WILL NOT BE DONE". So let me move on to why "IT CAN BE DONE". Because the
concept below is like any other ship that has been added to the game with a few
different behaviors.
First: Lets keep in mind that "simpler is better". So we can't get extravagant with
the graphics. Sticking with one graphic like any other ship means there is NO special
ability to surface/dive. It will have to STAY THE SAME all the time...IT CAN BE DONE
Second: How do they make subs invisible to the enemy? ....Well how do you think
the water mines and torpedos are made to be invisible to the enemy but visible to
your team? Programmers seem to have figured that one out already....IT CAN BE
DONE
Third: Firing torpedos isnt anything new....IT CAN BE DONE
Fourth: How do they make a customized narrow field of view... is this really a
problem? Ships and planes already have a field of view...IT CAN BE DONE.

Why scouts should NOT see subs...1) In real life, it was never guaranteed that a
plane could see a submerged U-boat...2) Too many people have scouts in NF and
would make U-boats useless if they could see subs...3) In my concept, an important
part of the sub players job is scouting beyond the line-of-sight of the rest of the
ships and sort of "sniping" from their hidden location.
Submarines would NOT overpower all ships in the game and here's why...1) They
can only shoot volleys of up to four torps...while the torps would be slightly faster,
longer range, and more explosive, they are not unavoidable and would take alot of
practice firing them. 2) Nothing will ever earn more XP than BB's anyways and thats
crap in the first place. Submarines are just sneaky/semi-invisible Simas with less
torps.
Some of you mentioned different things like depth charges...underwater mines...sub-
hunting aircraft...and anti-sub homing torps...dive deep/dive low/surface toggles...
Like I said in my original post "simpler is better", so lets not let this get out of hand.
Remember, the more complex you make this, the less likely it would be done
(because that means more work for SDE, which = $$$. As for this list of ideas,
here's what I propose:
1) They've already put mines in the game and it would not take much more to make
depth charges. Depth charges could function in much of the same way as any T-slot
weapon would function. 2) Creating underwater mines is unnecessary because
mines already exist and could function as underwater mines (keep it simple). 3) sub-
hunting aircraft - unnecessary and complex. 4) Homing torps - unnecessary and
complex 5) dive/surface toggles....like I said in the original post is unnecessary and
complex. It might not be perfectly and historically accurate...but think "SIMPLE".
