Trang chủ của R* đã update thêm phần dành riêng cho phiên bản PC của GTA IV. Phần này được đặc biệt chú trọng tới trình biên tập video đi kèm với game, chỉ có ở bản PC:

"Exclusive to the PC version of Grand Theft Auto IV, the all-new Video Editor feature allows you to capture in-game footage (whether single-player or multiplayer gameplay), make real-time edits and render out clips as WMV video files.

"When something amazing happens while playing the game, simply press the F2 button on your keyboard and the last 30-45 seconds (duration varies based on user settings and specifications) of gameplay will be automatically dumped to your hard drive as raw footage.

"Then, load up the in-game Video Editor (easily accessible through your in-game mobile phone) to edit away - with a suite of tools that can change the camera angle, audio, speed, and depth of field - plus post-production special effects to tweak colors and add filters.

"You can also digitally splice together a collection of your raw clips to create a montage video. Add in-game music, custom titling and transitions to polish it off and then share your masterpiece online by uploading to Rockstar Games Social Club TV. There, you will be able to watch other Grand Theft Auto IV videos posted by Social Club members, rate and comment on videos, and participate in ongoing contests."

GTA 4 cũng sẽ được bán qua steam, (một hình thức trả tiền và download game luôn trên mạng) vào ngày 2/12/2008 ở Mỹ và 3/12/2008 ở EU.

Cuối cùng thì thông tin về bản DLC (downloadable content) đầu tiên trên hệ máy X360 cũng xuất hiện. Phiên bản đầu tiên này mang tên là "Lost and Damned". NVC ko phải là Niko nữa mà là Johnny Klebitz, một thành viên của bang đua xe The Lost trong thành phố Liberty. Hiện tại chưa có nhiều thông tin về NVC này, Dan Houser chỉ hé lộ một chút thông tin:

"Johnny is a very different character than Niko, with a very different background," says Dan Houser, vice president of creative development for Rockstar Games. "I can't go into too much detail on the story, because we try not to give away too much plot before the game is released. But I can say that the story will show you a different side of Liberty City."

Phiên bản này sẽ ra mắt vào ngày 17/2/2009 trên hệ máy X360 (độc quyền). Bạn cần có bản GTA IV X360 gốc và XBox Live membership để chơi bản mở rộng này. Phiên bản sẽ có thêm chế độ chơi multi mới, vũ khí mới, xe cộ và âm nhạc mới...

Hôm nay theo giờ Mẽo, GTA IV đã chính thức có mặt trên các giá đĩa ở các cửa hàng bán lẻ tại Bắc Mỹ. Mặc dù đã xuất hiện trên console cách đây cả nửa năm nhưng phiên bản trên PC - với trình biên tập video và tính năng chơi mạng mới vẫn rất hot và chắc chắn sẽ có 1 lượng lớn phiên bản được bán ra.
Hiện tại đã có bản share trên mạng nhưng chưa có crack hoàn chỉnh, lần này R* đã bảo mật khá chặt, ít nhất là thành công cho đến khi bản chính thức ra mắt.

Update: Những game thủ có bản PC đầu tiên ở Bắc Mỹ đã thông báo lỗi đồ họa và tụt frame. R* đang cố gắng khắc phục và ra bản patch cho PC, điều này cũng từng xảy ra với GTA VC khi vừa ra mắt.

Trên trang chủ của GTA 4 (gta4.net) đã update bản sửa lỗi khi đã crack mà ko vào được game, hầu hết các lỗi đều chỉ cần restart lại máy. Riêng lỗi "GTA IV FATAL ERROR: MMA10", chỉ cần sign out khỏi Rockstar Social Club là xong.

Bản patch cho GTA IV PC sẽ ra mắt trong vài ngày tới, đó là điều mà R* đảm bảo cho các fan hâm mộ. Riêng về driver cho card hình thì Nvidia tung ra bản 180.84 còn ATI thì sắp có 8.12 sẽ cải thiện khung hình đáng kể.

Patch Is On The Way

We are working on making a patch available in the next few days. Since Grand Theft Auto IV is a Games For Windows – Live game the patch must be certified by Microsoft before release. The patch is already at Microsoft and we expect a speedy approval. The patch contains a variety of fixes including:

* A fix to the crash after legal screen that some German customers were reporting.
* Numerous improvements to the video editor: Smarter naming of videos, improved rendering quality, better fx during replays
* Fix to bowling while using certain sensitive mice
* Fix for ATI 1900 shadows
* Overall savings to memory
* Graphic improvements to particle systems and mirrors
* Multiplayer character settings are preserved
* Support for DirectInput controllers. Note: The current hack way of supporting these controllers may not work with the improved functionality. So we recommend you remove the hack before upgrading to the patch.

Issues with power management software have also been fixed (slow speed, double speed issues). Even after the patch comes out setting power management software to maximum performance is recommended. We’ve seen cases where power management software does not detect the game is running and puts the CPU in green mode.

Besides the patch we’ve also improved the way the Social Club handles data this should have greatly reduced or eliminated the Mma10 error. If you are still receiving this error after logging in and out of Social Club we would like to know as much info as you can about it.

Spike TV vừa trình chiếu đoạn trailer đầu tiên về phiên bản DLC của GTA IV mang tên the Lost and damned trên hệ máy X360. Trailer cũng tiết lộ một số thông tin về phiên bản này:

* Major characters are: Billy, Jim, Jason, Clay, and Johnny Klebitz (main character)
* The game will probably take place before or just directly after Niko arrives in Liberty City. Reasoning includes spoilers, select the following text to read it: Jason is Mikhail Faustin's daughter's boyfriend, who Niko kills in the mission No Love Lost, which occurs relatively early in the game.
* New weapons include a pistol, shotgun with a round magazine (Striker), and sawed-off shotgun.
* You'll have the ability to use more powerful weapons (such as the sawed-off shotgun) while riding a motorcycle.

* The stylus is immediately put to use at the start of the game, when Huang Lee must break out of a car sinking in the river and swim to shore.
* Audio is fairly lacking due to cartridge size. The game has some original tracks but all licensed songs are "instrumentals." IGN reports that "F-bombs are dropped [by pedestrians] quite frequently."
* You'll be able to climb up fire escapes to reach rooftops.
* To lose your wanted level you need to take out the nearby policemen rather than run away from them. The police car icons below your stars indicate how many policemen are left.
* Doing donuts before driving off gives you a speed boost, and flames will shoot out of your exhaust, allowing you to set fire to any pedestrians behind you.
* To get Molotov cocktails, you can go up to a gas pump and fill up as many bottles as you can in the allotted time.
* The PDA serves as your email and text message viewer, GPS with waypoints and favorite locations, contact database, music player, money manager, and gun shop.

Grand Theft Auto – The Lost And Damned Hands-On​

Với thành công vượt ngoài mong đợi của bản GTA IV, Rockstar đã quyết định cho ra đời thêm phiên bản mở rộng với bối cảnh của GTA IV được gọi là The Lost And Damned. Dù đây chỉ là phiên bản mở rộng nhưng cốt truyện của TLAD lại tập trung vào Johnny Klebbitz và tạm thời chưa có thông tin gì về vai trò của Niko Bellic trong bản này.

Nhân vật chính của The Lost And Damned – Johnny Klebbitz là phó tướng của băng moto The Lost có địa bàn tại Alderney (khu CN của GTA IV). Câu chuyện bắt đầu bằng việc Billy chủ tướng của The Lost vừa dưỡng thương xong và nắm quyền lại từ Johnny. Việc đầu tiên Billy làm đó là ra lệnh tấn công thành viên của băng đảng đối đầu Angels of Death ngay trước ổ của The Lost, việc này đã phá vỡ thoả hiệp ngừng bắn Johnny đề xuất và khuấy động lên một cuộc chiến băng đảng khác. Sau đấy, Johnny cùng các thành viên còn lại của The Lost leo lên chiến mã truy đuổi tàn đảng còn lại của đối phương và lúc này chúng ta thấy trên tay Johnny là khẩu saw-off shotgun (từng xuất hiện trong SA và khá nguy hiểm khi cho CJ đạt đến mức Hitman để có thể cầm 2 tay). Đồng thời chúng ta cũng thấy sự xuất hiện của 1 phương tiện mới đó là chiến mã Hexer, chiếc moto độc nhất của Johnny và có vẻ như khi đang thực hiện nhiệm vụ mà bạn vô tình phá huỷ nó thì hầu như là không có cách nào để khôi phục lại nó (không hiểu là chỉ mất trong nhiệm vụ hoặc 1 đi không trở lại đây ???).

Tấn công đối thủ bằng gậy bóng chày khi cưỡi moto​

Nv đầu tiên của TLND có tên là Action/Reaction (Có Ăn Có Trả), Billy ra lệnh cho băng nhóm tấn công ổ của Angels vì nghi ngờ dính líu đến án mạng của 1 thành viên trẻ tuổi trong The Lost (chính là gã cưa cẳm con gái của Mikhael trong GTA IV và bị Niko thủ tiêu). Cuộc tấn công bắt đầu với Johnny dùng khẩu Grenade Launcher (ai có chơi qua Far Cry 2 sẽ biết món này thế nào, cộng với hiệu ứng cháy nổ cùng vật lý của GTA IV thì hứa hẹn đây sẽ là 1 món “đồ chơi” đáng giá) thiêu trụi trụ sở của Angels. Một vài tên cố gắng vùng vẫy ra khỏi đám cháy và thế là 2 bên đấu súng nhau dữ dội. Sau khi dọn sạch chướng ngại bên ngoài, Billy cùng Johnny cầm đầu cả nhóm xông vào và tại tầng hầm Billy ra lệnh cho đàn em tịch thu khối lượng heroin mà băng Angels tàng trữ, điều này khiến Johnny nghi ngờ rằng báo thù không hẳn là động cơ của Billy.

KA BOOMBA​

Nhiệm vụ thứ 2 mà đội ngũ phóng viên chơi thử tên là Buyer’s Market, đây thật ra chính là màn Blow Your Cover trong GTA IV khi Niko, Playboy X cùng Johnny cùng nhau thực hiện 1 phi vụ buôn heroin. Khác biệt ở đây là nó tập trung vào cuộc tẩu thoát của Johnny, thay vì trèo lên tầng thượng tẩu thoát như Niko và Playboy X thì Johnny lại chọn lối ngắn nhất nhưng cũng xương xẩu nhất là ra thẳng ngay cửa chính (có lẽ tiếc quả Hexer).

Nhiệm vụ cuối cùng mà đội ngũ pv chơi thử chính là cuộc tẩu thoát khỏi cảnh sát của Johnny cùng 2 gả khác tên là DeSaun và Malcolm. Kì này Johnny sẽ ngồi yên sau chiến mã của Malcolm với khẩu Shotgun bán tự động không giới hạn đạn để ngăn sự truy đuổi của cảnh sát (gợi nhớ đến nv Wrong Side of The Tracks trong SA). Chỉ với 3 nv ấy chúng ta cũng đủ thấy TLAD là 1 bản mở rộng rất đáng mong chờ đối với fan của GTA IV (đáng tiếc thay trc mắt chỉ thấy Rockstar công bố độc quyền tải về cho Xbox 360 thôi).

Những thay đổi trong bản TLND này bao gồm: âm nhạc (do đây là băng đảng moto nên sẽ mang đậm chất Rock), xe cộ (sẽ chú trọng nhiều đến Chopper), 1 số mini game như Gồng Tay, đánh bài và bida lỗ, dùng gậy bóng chày tấn công đối thủ khi đang cưỡi moto nhưng quan trọng nhất đó chính là “tình huynh đệ” như trong đoạn trailer có giới thiệu “We’re brother, the brotherhood of Lost”. Giờ đây tính năng Homies trong bản SA đã được nâng lên 1 bậc cao hơn trong TLND. Trong đa số nv, Johnny sẽ thực hiện cùng với các huynh đệ The Lost chứ ko còn đơn thương độc mã như Niko và TLND khuyến khích người chơi cố gắng hoàn thành nv với càng ít thương vong phe mình càng tốt bởi các huynh đệ trong băng càng sống sót lâu chừng nào thì càng tính luỹ nhiều kinh nghiệm và sẽ làm tăng độ chính xác, máu cũng như mức sát thương lên đối thủ. Nếu chẳng may có 1 huynh đệ vong mạng thì sau đó sẽ được 1 thành viên khác nhập hội thay thế vị trí nhưng kinh nghiệm thì phải tích luỹ lại từ đầu. Việc nhồi nhét thêm yếu tố nhập vai vào game theo ý kiến tác giả là rất sáng tạo bởi đây là câu truyện về tình huynh đệ, mà đã là huynh đệ vào sinh ra tử thì chẳng ai muốn chứng kiến huynh đệ vong mạng khi chinh chiến cả. Bên cạnh đó, trái ngược hoàn toàn so với Niko chỉ là lính mới tò te đặt chân đến Liberty mưu sinh thì Johnny đã là 1 công dân lâu năm cùng hàng tá quan hệ tại Liberty thế nên ở thời điểm ban đầu Johnny đã có ngay safehouse và hoả lực mạnh chứ không cần phải lang thang tìm kiếm quan hệ làm ăn như Niko. Nói tóm lại The Lost And Damned là 1 bản mở rộng cực kì đáng mong đợi nếu bạn đã chơi qua và yêu thích GTA IV. Theo dự kiến thì Rockstar sẽ tung ra bản mở rộng này trên Xbox Live vào ngày 17/2/09.

Gametrailers.com vừa có một clip giới thiệu khá chi tiết về GTA IV TLAD, với các chi tiết đáng chú ý:

* All of Liberty City is unlocked from the start of the story.
* In terms of new dialogue and story, The Lost and Damned is roughly 1/3 the size of GTA IV.
* The story doesn't necessarily start at the same time Niko arrives in Liberty City, but there are definitely intersections with GTA IV's story at certain points.
* The video clips provided the first look at one of the new weapons available in The Lost and Damned - the grenade launcher (pictured to the right).
* Since Johnny is part of a motorcycle gang and has more skill on a bike than Niko, some of the handling on motorbikes has changed as well as how easy or hard it is to crash.
* Riding in formation within a gang logo that appears on the road will trigger dialogue, give you a health boost, and also allow for some other perks.
* In one mission you get to ride with Malc on his bike and ward off the cops as he drives you to a safe zone.
* One of the new mini-games will be arm wrestling.
* Like Niko, Johnny can find dates online or go on a date with his "old lady."
* There will be a lot of close-quarter combat in missions and the new weapons, especially the sawn-off shotgun, accomodate this new combat style.
* You'll be able to play the GTA IV mission "Buyer's Market" from Johnny's perspective. The "Museum Piece" mission is another likely storyline intersection.
* There are other new vehicles in addition to the new bikes.
* One fan theory about the second DLC stating that the main character will be Luis Lopez from the "Museum Piece" mission (because the Xbox 360 achievement is called "Impossible Trinity," with the three characters being Niko, Johnny, and Luis) was noted by the Rockstar employee as "interesting."

Trailer thứ 2 của GTAIV TLAD đã chính thức ra mắt kèm theo vô số thông tin mới. TLAD sẽ bao gồm vũ khí mới, phương tiện di chuyển mới. Riêng tính năng multi-player được add thêm rất nhiều mod mới hấp dẫn:

* The multiplayer modes will feature new character models along with the new weapons and vehicles from The Lost and Damned.
* One new game type called Witness Protection has you play on two teams: The Lost gang and a set N.O.O.S.E. officers. The N.O.O.S.E. have to deliver three witnesses to the police station while The Lost have to kill the witnesses.
* Another mode called Own the City is like a gang territory war. Each team tries to obtain as much territory as possible, and a group of NPC's will try to protect your land when you're out getting some more.
* The new racing mode is similar to the classic game Road Rash: you are to travel through checkpoints atop a motorcycle while beating down your opponents with a baseball bat.
* The Lone Wolf Biker mode is similar to an "oddball" mode, where one player is the Lone Wolf and it's everybody else's job to kill him. The Lone Wolf that lasts the longest wins.
* Another mode called Chopper vs. Chopper is played by two people: one on a motorcycle and the other in a helicopter. The motorcycle rider's task is to reach checkpoints throughout the city while the helicopter pilot's job is to kill the motorcycle rider!
* The last mode titled Club Business will feature every member of The Lost, and the gang will be given random tasks to complete throughout the city.
